We are looking for those who would like to have fun, get to know one another better, and make a joyful noise cheering while attempting to knock down ten candle pins with a ball. For more information contact Janet Haines, Coordinator.

Healing Ministry

Members perform the laying-on-of-hands with prayers for healing the mind, body, and spirit at Sunday worship services. Contact Chair Patty Smith.

Health Ministry/Parish Nursing Committee

This group’s mission is to provide education, consultation, and
emotional support on health issues that challenge the parish community.
The committee interfaces with the Pastoral Response Ministry, providing appropriate medical information and guidance to the pastoral visitor volunteers. The group also presents educational wellness programs and exhibits to the parish such as "Heart Health" in February and "Sunscreen Sunday" in June. The group has approximately eight members including six nurses. Contact Chair Betsy Prescott.

Knitting Ministry

The Knitting Ministry meets monthly to knit prayer/healing shawls for those who are ill, have suffered a loss or who for another reason may need some special comfort. In addition to the shawls in the winter months, many warm hats, scarves and mittens have been knit for guests at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen. The group meets the first Monday each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Room at Christ Church. New participants are always welcome. To knit or to offer a name, contact Bea Dagdigian or Nancy Lankford.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (B)

This group, also known as the LEM Group, delivers Communion to our parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, and private homes. Led by the clergy, the nine members meet at least once a year. To qualify for the group you must earn a certificate at a one-day seminar conducted by the diocese. Contact Chair Peter Tierney for more information.

Newcomer Ministry

This group is responsible for welcoming new members to Christ Church. Two to three times a year the group sponsors a Newcomer’s Breakfast, they see that a Newcomer’s Packet of information is delivered to anyone who has signed the guest book as a visitor to the church, and they are responsible for providing Greeters for Sunday worship services. Currently, there are about 10 members and new members and Greeters are needed. You can volunteer to be a Sunday Greeter without joining the group formally. Contact Chair Harding Ounanian.

Pastoral Response Ministry

Meets with clergy weekly on Tuesday mornings following 8:45 a.m. Morning Prayer. Members help the group stay informed of parishioners’ pastoral needs and respond to those needs. Activities include arranging for meals for ill or bereaved parish members, sending cards and notes of sympathy and support, assigning Lay Eucharistic Ministers to take Communion to the homebound. Homebound Devotions are mailed every two weeks, and information is provided to the Altar Guild to assist the delivery of altar flowers to homebound parishioners. The group coordinates activities and planning with members of the Newcomer Committee, the Healing Ministry, and the Health Ministry. The group has approximately ten members and welcomes more. They are also interested in receiving information from any person about any parish member who is ill or need of support. Contact Terry Windhorst.
