- Acolytes
-
- Carry out liturgical functions such as crucifer, server,
torchbearer, and banner bearer. There are about 20 volunteers and more are always
welcome as the worship services require 5 to 12 acolytes each Sunday. People 10 years
of age to adult can participate after receiving a brief training. Adult volunteers
are especially needed for evening services. Contact The Rev. Peter G. Tierney, III.
-
- Altar Guild
-
- The Altar Guild prepares the church and chapel for all services
and delivers
altar flowers to the homebound, the sick, and the hospitalized. The group has
approximately 20 members that form five groups. Each group is assigned the same
week each month. During the summer months volunteers work one weekend a month and
everyone volunteers during holiday seasons to decorate the church. In May or June
of each year the group gets together for the annual dinner meeting. New members are
encouraged and warmly welcomed. Training is provided. Please contact Co-Directress Bea Dagdigian or Liz Dennett for more information.
-
- Choir
-
- Sing at the weekly Sunday Holy Eucharist service and at special
services September to June. The group has approximately 25 members and there is a real need for
additional members in all sections (especially basses!). This group rehearses
under the direction of Dr. John Whiteside,
Director of Music Ministry, every Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00, and
9:15 on Sunday morning prior to the service. Special presentations are put on
throughout the year including the presentation of a major work, Lessons and Carols
the Sunday before Christmas, and Tenebrae (Good Friday). Contact Coordinator
Betsy Prescott.
-
- Counters
-
- Help count the offering after Sunday services.
As a volunteer, you will work with the three Assistant Treasurers
for about one half hour after church services, probably once a month.
Contact an Janet Haines for more information.
-
- Greeters and Ushers
-
- Greet people at the door to the church at Sunday worship
service, hand out the weekly Bulletin, and assist with seating. As a volunteer, you
need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the church service and spend a few minutes straightening the
pews after the service. Scheduling is completely flexible and you can even volunteer
for only part of the year. No training is required. Most people work one Sunday a
month or less. The group is looking for new volunteers, as six to eight are needed
every Sunday. Contact Coordinator
Sue Fleming.
