Music at Christ Church
Music plays an integral part in our parish life. Through our hymn singing, we join hearts and voices in faith and celebration. The seasons of the church year are brought to life through a variety of musical styles sung by our Youth and Adult Choirs. Our music program is under the leadership of Pamela Goody, who believes that everyone is born with music in their hearts; it plays an important role in spirituality. She invites everyone to be involved in any and all musical experiences at Christ Church.
Christ Church offers many musical opportunities from which to choose:
Adult Choir, directed by Pamela Goody, meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00PM. Adults as well as High School students may join choir at any time during the year from September to the end of May. Some people prefer to sing for a particular season, such as Advent and Christmas or Lent and Easter. All choir members are volunteers, thus there is no need to audition. Just come to enjoy the music and to be in the company of friends. For information, please see the Adult Choir page. Singing is a great way to have fun while making new friends.
Adult Hand Bell Choir meets on Monday evenings from7:00-8:00 PM, beginning September 12, 2011. Directed by Vera Dumova, Bell Choir is fairly new to the music program at Christ Church. Hand bells add a special beauty to the church service. This is yet another way in which people can become involved with music. We welcome new members at any time.
In addition to the musical offerings during church services, Christ Church hosts the Longwood Opera, a Needham based opera company featuring area singers and musicians. Longwood presents full length operas, opera scenes, and themed concerts. The programs are varied to reach a wide audience of music lovers. More information can be found at their website.
